Sorry to hear about Sharon getting bitten by the dog Sunday morning. Just to show how far the dogs were roaming, that morning they had also scattered a lot of garbage across our yard, scared our two kids into coming inside, and were observed trying to get into another neighbor's fence apparently to attack their smaller dogs.

There were three dogs: one of the dogs was a Husky (had a collar on), one was the Boxer, and the third was a stray. The Husky had growled at me a few weeks ago in my yard.

Like you, I am more concerned about the safety of the children in this neighborhood.

This morning I was bitten by a dog. I feel it would benefit our neighborhood to let everyone know there are leash laws in Bartow County and if a vicious dog bites one of your neighbors you can be sued. There are many children in our neighborhood and I was so shaken up that a dog would charge me in my own yard and bite me. Although it could have been much worst, it could have been a child. I didn't run and I tried to tell both dogs to stop looking them in their eyes. I had watched a show about dogs attacking and it said don't run. The two big dogs keep coming at me barking in my driveway. I did it again and they seem to stop, but when I turned around the Boxer jumped at the back of my knee with it's teeth. I screamed for my husband and then they ran home. It was a neighbor two houses down from us. After a little investigating I found out that these dogs have tried to bite another nei ghbor, while they were walking their dog. It is so important to keep your dogs away
from other people, while they can be friendly to your family, they can attack other people outside your family. I did go to the hospital and I did have to get a shot and antibotics. The hospital said it is the law that animal control must be called if you are bitten. There is protection for the victims of dog bites in Georgia and it is on the internet. I feel the hoa could help protect their neighbors by having a fee, if your dog is roaming the neighborhood often and bites. I would also encourage any neighbor if you see roaming dogs call the animal control and let your neighbor know your dogs are out. This could have been a very dangerous situation for a child and it was not a pleasant experience for me. I now have a fear of being out in my front yard or walking the neighborhood with my grandchildren. I would like everyone to know being a good ne ighbor means keeping your pets under control and protecting all the young children in our neighborhood from roaming pets.

Sincerely,

Sharon McCoy
